Buckle up—Rihanna is breaking out the statement belt.

Last night in New York, Rih and her partner, A$AP Rocky, reminded us that even their lowkey looks are just as considered as their red carpet moments.

Rocky, for his part, reached for a plaid flannel jacket from Protocol Index, which he wore with a black pullover, white tee, light wash blue jeans, and Puma sneakers.

Rihanna, on the other hand, took a charcoal gray tank top, black trousers, and a cropped khaki bomber to the next level with her styling choices: lucite sandals, a Miu Miu baseball cap, a quilted burgundy Chanel bag, and—chiefly—a statement belt from Streets Ahead. Chanelling the noughties, Rih eschewed belt loops, wearing an engraved, mixed-metal Western belt over her top.

The singer and Fenty Beauty founder loves a bold accessory. Rih has dabbled in a variety of eye-catching belts, most notably the oversized cherry red Maison Margiela cincher she wore to Giorgio Baldi in 2016. Still, she knows that bold belting comes in all shapes and sizes, be it the white studded number with the prominent buckle she paired with an indigo jacket and green tie-dye pants, or the turquoise Kemo Sabe she paired with a satin corset and jeans.
