The performer accessorized the look with black leather gloves, a matching tie, and a white army-style hat. “The main reason why I go to the Met Gala is in support of costume designers and costume art,” Monáe explained. “I love a theme, and I love collaborating with costume designers and their teams.
Artisans spend hours, days, and months crafting, and I’m all about putting in the hours and the work to build something beautiful, so  I’m looking forward to making beauty in the middle of chaos.”

In the center of the room, Nicolas Hoult held court on the plush pink sofas, chatting with fellow actors like Daisy Edgar-Jones, while Romeo Beckham quietly slipped past with his girlfriend, Kim Turnbull. In another corner, just a step away from the flowing Tanqueray martini fountain, actor Tyriq Withers caught up with Wade, who enjoyed a nice cup of hot tea. (A relatable move for anyone who has been socializing for the last 72+ hours and counting.)

Having spotted Chase Sui Wonders from across the room, Withers greeted the 2026 Met Gala committee member with a hug as they settled into giddy banter about making their Met Monday debuts. “Are you going tomorrow?” Sui Wonders asked the Him actor. “Yeah!” he exclaimed, reaching for a high five. “Baby’s first Met!”

“You can tell everyone has butterflies—it’s like Christmas Eve! You can feel the energy in the air,” Sui Wonders told Vogue. “I now have a greater appreciation for this process, the fine-tuning, and what it takes to arrive on those steps and look your best.” As for one of the things she’s most excited about? Beyoncé, of course. “I've never seen her in the flesh. I can’t wait,” she exclaimed.

And just when the party appeared to be winding down, a 10 p.m. appearance from Jon Batiste picked things back up as the Grammy winner made the rounds until the bar’s last call and the beats by DJ Austin Millz began to fade.

Leaving the Ritz Carlton, last-standing guests such as Hoult and D’Amelio were spotted taking selfies with fans surrounding the hotel. Some would call it pre-Met practice for the big day.
