Hello there, Vogue.
I am going to the Met Gala.
But right now, I'm not there. I'm on the ice.
And I'm really excited,
so I'll see you guys there.
[upbeat music]
Hi, Vogue.
This is Alyssa,
and I'm getting ready for my first Met Gala.
Doing my nails right now, as y'all see.
We're in New York.
I'm feeling really excited, you know, a lot of anticipation.
I don't know what to expect.
A lot of it is kind of secretive, I've been told,
so I can't really get too much of information,
but I'm looking forward to it
and all the people I'm gonna meet.
Yeah.
[steady music]
Hello, hello! Hi.
So cute.
[Katie] Yeah, so we added this kind of shell of satin
around the ruffles after the first fitting
because we almost wanted the dress to kind
of look like it was like dissected,
'cause we wanted to kind of touch on this like,
body's theme and the embodied art form of fashion.
And so we wanted it to kind
of look like it was sliced in half.
And then like the ruffles are like, what's the interior guts
of the dress, which is kind of fun.
We reviewed so many sketches together.
They definitely heard us and our vision.
They really like, brought it to life
through the LV lens and through the house codes.
They're really great at these like, sculptural sort
of silhouettes and it's like, little bit futuristic
and very cool and modern.
So it's definitely a really fun process for us.
What do you think?
I've never worn anything quite like it before.
And yeah, I think it represents me pretty well.
I love to express myself through my style.
I don't have that much knowledge, but I love clothes
and color combinations and stuff like that.
So I express myself through my clothes
and what I wear a daily basis and what I wear on the ice.
I help design my costumes with my dress designer.
So I'm tapped in a little bit,
but I'm new to the luxury fashion world.
These are so cute.
They're so like, delicate and yeah,
I'm feeling very princessy, and with this dress on.
[Katie] Wow. Wow!
[Speaker 2] Reveal! Reveal!
[Katie] Oh my gosh. Looks so good.
[Alysa] I feel great.
I feel really good in the dress.
It's really comfortable and I feel very confident in it
and very princess-like.
My favorite thing about this dress is the shape.
I love the structure of it
and how exaggerated the skirt is.
My job is basically to take care of my body.
So we wanted to bring a kind
of anatomical sense into this dress,
and we did that through the skirt
and the color and everything.
Next. I mean, hopefully glam, hair and makeup.
I'm gonna need that done before I get to the carpet.
And then, yeah, I don't know when I leave for it,
but yeah, I'm just going with the flow.
So this is my hair and photo
and videography and everything team.
That's right.
We got Duncan, we got Anh here,
and we got,
Mika. Mika!
[Speaker] Mika.
[steady music]
[Tami] So today, we're gonna do a monochromatic look.
Her dress, her shoes are all this kind
of burgundy red color.
So we're gonna bring that up into the eye
and make it like a twist
on her signature liner, smokey look.
I love looking to see
what other athletes have worn at the Met Gala,
not for any particular reason,
just because we're all athletes
and I just think it's so cool
when our worlds kind of collide.
[steady music]
The whole look's gonna be more effortless.
I really want to emphasize her texture and her color, hair.
And the main focus is the dress.
So I really want to have the whole entire look
to be very effortless.
So it can be very pretty,
and just very soft bend to the hair.
[steady music]
I'm feeling so at peace right now.
I'm loving the eyes right now.
I love a smoky look.
And we're gonna do this kind of reddish color
to match the dress and everything, and the mascara too.
My lashes are gonna be that color.
This is like, more experimental for me
and I'm excited to try it out for the Met.
[steady music]
Okay, Vogue.
So I'm done with my glam,
and I'm gonna go get changed
and I'll see you when I have my dress on.
[steady music]
[people cheering indistinctly]
Thank you so much for having me, Vogue.
I am so excited to go to my first Met.
'Bout to leave, so I'll see y'all next time.
