Kate Moss has worn some of her most memorable outfits (and there have been a few of those) on the first Monday in May. The supermodel attended her first Met Gala in 1995—soon after starring in those era-defining Calvin Klein campaigns—and the brand that helped to catapult her to fame dressed her for her debut in a simple yellow slip that, in hindsight, was entirely emblematic of both ’90s minimalism and Moss’s ineffable style.
In the years since, Kate has ascended the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in everything from Topshop ruffles of her own design in 2007 to metallic Marc Jacobs with a matching turban in 2009 to a Saint Laurent LBD sprouting feathers at the shoulders in 2018. Tonight, the supermodel returned to the Met Gala for the first time since 2023, and turned once again to her friend Anthony Vaccarello for her look.
Moss wore a sheer black floor-length gown that revealed a lace bodice underneath, accessorized with heels, diamonds, and a classic red lip.
Her relationship with Saint Laurent spans decades, from her days walking the house’s couture runways in the early ’90s to her always sensational appearances at its Paris shows to channelling Serge Gainsbourg in a 2001 campaign shot by Juergen Teller. (The supermodel recently revealed one of her favorite memories from over the years: being bitten by Monsieur Saint Laurent’s pug as a teen during a fitting with the house founder.)
