See Every Look from the Met Gala 2026 Red Carpet
Last night, we waited with bated breath as the world’s biggest stars gathered at the 2026 Met Gala. The fashion did not disappoint.
This year’s exhibit, “Costume Art,” places fashion on the same pedestal as fine art. From May 10, 2026 until January 10, 2027, the museum’s brand-new, almost 12,000-square-foot Condé M. Nast Galleries will be filled with hundreds of pieces of art that center the dressed body, paired with thematically relevant fashions. In concert with the theme, the evening’s dress code, “Fashion is Art,” asked attendees to serve as something of a blank canvas themselves.
While the dress code itself left plenty of room to the imagination, the exhibit’s sub-sections are sure to offer some guidance. Many embraced the classical body in Hellenistic drapery, while others opted to explore the anatomical body. We saw that, thanks to an ongoing cultural fascination with naked dressing, many guests got creative by referencing the classical nude.
The night’s co-chairs arrived with their own unique interpretation of this year’s theme. Nicole Kidman entered in custom Chanel by Matthieu Blazy, while her daughter Sunday Rose (a first timer) arrived in a sugary pink Dior number. Newly married and tennis icon Venus Williams paid homage to a portrait of her commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery 2022, titled Venus Williams, Double Portrait by Robert Pruitt. That was articulated in a black Swarovski crystal mesh gown. Unsurprisingly, Beyoncé shut the red carpet down in Olivier Rousteing: the body-conscious dress featured a skin-tone mesh base, embellished with a diamond skeleton that traveled all the way down to her fingers. The night was a family affair, too, as she arrived with Blue Ivy (another first timer) and husband Jay-Z.
Countless celebrities in attendance also took to the carpet in their most artful fashions, including the host committee co-chairs Anthony Vaccarello and recently engaged Zoë Kravitz, as well as Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Alex Consani, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, Lisa, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult.
As the night unfolded, Vogue kept the live blog going with up to the minute coverage, and are still going strong with real-time updates on last night’s festivities, including all the after-parties throughout New York City.
