Encore, encore! Six months after wrapping her mammoth tour, Billie Eilish celebrated the premiere of her concert film Billie Eilish—Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) in Los Angeles. The project, which she co-directed with James Cameron, charts her sold-out four night run in Manchester, England last year.
Eilish walked the red carpet alongside Cameron, her brother and collaborator Finneas O’Connell, and her boyfriend Nat Wolff—marking the couple’s official red carpet debut.
The look was textbook Billie: she wore an emerald green cotton Prada polo shirt with a red embroidered logo on the chest, a white shirt underneath with gathered sleeves, and a black pleated Prada midi skirt. On the bottom, a pair of lace-up gray mules and red, navy-ringed tube socks. Nat, for his part, wore a desert beige Simkhai suit and white dress shirt.
Billie’s makeup was also as she tends to like it: smoked out, siren-y eyes with kohl liner, and a taupe lip. Her raven-dark brunette hair was styled in a middle part with long, loose layers.
Last week, Eilish leaned more into the more masculine shades of her personal style for the movie’s London premiere, opting for a shapely Celine suit, striped tie, cornflower blue shirt, and black low-profile sneakers. Suits are very much a hallmark for the popstar on the red carpet, but are always done her way: pants pool and balloon, blazers are oversized and sculpted, and there’s always a more unexpected accessory—like a belt chain, a cool set of red-lensed sunglasses, or a brooch.
But really, no one loves a statement sock as much as Billie Eilish does—whether sporty striped numbers with board shorts onstage, or sweet white stockings and Mary Janes to go with her tweedy Chanel as she accepted her Oscar.
Throughout her style evolution—from cutesy cartoon-emblazoned shirts, to streetwear by way of Supreme and ERL, and subversively feminine frills and skirt sets via Simone Rocha and Thom Browne—Billie Eilish’s penchant for a good sock has endured.
